The conference is funded through the District+ Interreg IVC project and will feature expert speakers from leading manufacturing industry organisations from countries such as Germany, Sweden, Italy, United Kingdom, Poland and Romania. The key note speaker will be Sir Albert Bore, Leader of the Labour Group of Birmingham City Council, former President of the European Union Committee of the Regions. The welcome speech on Advanced Manufacturing and Regional Supply Chain will be made by Jack Glonek, Assistant Director, Investment, Enterprise, Employment at Birmingham City Council.
The Conference provides an exciting platform for participants to learn from leading international manufacturing experts about their knowledge and expertise. It will also provide an opportunity to learn more about a new governmental fund of Â£125m designed to support advanced manufacturing key supply chains in the UK.
The overarching aim of the conference is to provide participants with transferrable learning practice with regard to the modernisation of traditional and advanced manufacturing sectors. Good practice examples presented by the leading international experts will cover both public and private sector-led sector initiatives, but with a particular emphasis on modernisation rooted in product innovation and internationalisation strategies. Participants will be offered a valuable knowledge base, highlighting the key facets of regional support interventions and showcasing critical success factors and transferrable learning points
